When it comes to coffee, for many people the first thing they think of is Starbucks. Admittedly, the Seattle chain serves up some classics, and it’s perfect for a quick drive-thru caffeine hit. However, the Summerlin area offers Elysian coffee connoisseurs other terrific options as well. Most coffee shops in the Summerlin area open at 7 a.m. and there are three in particular that are worthy of a visit.
On Sahara Avenue you’ll find two shops: Avery’s Coffee and Desert Wind Coffee roasters. Avery’s is an artisan roaster specializing in coffee, espresso, cappuccino and macchiato drinks made with beans from Honduras, Costa Rica and Ethiopia. They also offers scones, muffins and croissants. Desert Wind Coffee Roasters uses beans from Guatemala, Nicaragua and Kenya as well as traditional Brazilian blends. This shop is unique in that it has a Breaking Bad themed menu that features coffee drinks such as The Heisenberg, The Flynn and Eun’s Addiction.
Located on Rampart, Sambalatte Torefazione is eco-friendly and organic with beans from around the world, including Brazil. The expert Baristas at this caffé lounge and espresso bar practice “Latte Art” where each steaming mug has a signature design in the foam.
Finally, for the really early risers, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf on Charleston Boulevard opens at 5 a.m. each weekday and has a huge selection of fresh roasted beans. Since 1963, these guys have perfected the coffee experience and now offer a variety of organic options from Mexican to Sumatra. They also offer Cold Brew coffees and Nitro Cold Brews in which regular cold brew is infused with nitrogen just prior to serving for a richer, smoother taste experience.
